GMAC Real Estate Fredericksburg is a full service real estate firm that has, since 1994, served the needs of buyers and sellers across the many communities and neighborhoods that make up the Texas Hill Country.
It all Started in 1994
After 17 years in the financial community dealing with real estate loans, management of property, and sales throughout Texas and several other southern states, Greg Oehler returned to Fredericksburg to create Gillespie Realty in September of 1994.
Relying on his banking and real estate experience which dealt with homes, commercial properties, and ranches as large as several hundred thousand acres, Oehler created Gillespie Realty to sell and manage properties in the Hill Country-primarily Fredericksburg, Gillespie County, and neighboring counties.
Because much of the real estate world revolves around financing, Oehler believes that his 17 years of banking experience is a special benefit to many clients seeking loans.
Gillespie Realty began modestly on Oehler's parents' patio using a wireless telephone, and no computer. As the business grew, it was moved to the second floor of an office building on West Main Street in Fredericksburg.
When the internet first evolved for public use in Fredericksburg in 1995, Gillespie Realty was among the first real estate brokerages to utilize it. Oehler recalls how exciting it was to receive e-mail messages from all over the world. Few could imagine at the time how swiftly the internet would evolve into the one of the most significant marketing tools utilized by the real estate industry.
As the number of competing Realtors in Fredericksburg grew, Oehler purchased a GMAC (General Motors Acceptance Corporation) Real Estate franchise in order to provide more of a national exposure for local listings. Additional franchise benefits include Premier Service, Home Rewards (discount purchasing opportunities for clients), training and educational seminars for agents, referral opportunities, professionally designed marketing materials, and automobile discounts for the agents.
The GMAC Real Estate team now includes five agents and two administrative personnel. GMAC Real Estate Fredericksburg/Gillespie Realty has been serving clients for almost 14 years in Fredericksburg.
